Client

Tesko Steel Logistic Sp. z o.o. is a Polish heavy cargo transport company specializing in steel transport. Operating a fleet of over 100 tractor units and nearly as many trailers, the company manages complex logistics operations where efficiency, time, and cost control are critical to profitability.

Request

Tesko Steel’s operations team faced daily stress caused by the growing complexity of fleet management. Every day involved hundreds of operational decisions, including route planning, monitoring drivers’ working hours, and managing an increasing flow of transport documents.

Data analysis was scattered across multiple tools, which made the process time-consuming and inefficient. While basic GPS tracking was available, it did not allow real-time response to route deviations or provide control over drivers’ working hours. As a result, issues often became visible mostly during monthly settlements, when it was discovered how many additional kilometers drivers had driven, directly reducing the profitability of transports that had already been priced.

Solution

After analyzing Tesko Steel’s operational needs, Fleethand was implemented in a pilot program covering 12 vehicles. The key Fleethand solutions included:

Route planning and execution monitoring, allowing dispatchers to define optimal routes and immediately react to deviations.

Driver working time assistant, visualizing work hours, highlighting issues, and supporting compliant, data-driven discussions with drivers.

Fuel consumption and eco-driving analysis, identifying potential savings and improving driving behavior.

Automation tools, including alerts, escalations, and document digitization with OCR validation.

The ability to book parking during route planning — eliminating the need for multiple separate tools.

Following successful testing and strong internal engagement, the system demonstrated clear operational and financial benefits.

Results

With the Fleethand solution, Tesko Steel achieved:

At least one additional transport job per vehicle per month (in some cases two)
Fuel consumption optimized (≈2 liters saved per 100 km)
Faster reaction times and reduced operational stress
Digitization of up to 40% of transport documentation during early implementation
Faster response to route changes and fewer unnecessary kilometers

“Our data analysis was scattered. We didn’t have everything in one system, so it required much more time. We had access to GPS, but it was a basic tool — no real-time response, no control over driver working hours. We wanted something that would bring all these areas together in one place. The biggest challenge with a fleet of 50, 100, or more vehicles is scale. This problem was spotted when drivers deviated from their planned routes. We couldn’t react immediately because, among all the daily tasks, there simply wasn’t time to analyze it. After implementing Fleethand, we were able to generate at least one additional transport job per vehicle per month — and in some cases, even two. Also, we can save around 2 liters per vehicle per 100 km. Furthermore, the system allows us to scan documents right after unloading. Already 40% of our operations are on scans. Now we know when something goes wrong and can focus 100% on generating revenue and planning routes so the business runs smoothly.”
